Bold Porch Pirate Steals Two Packages Caught on Camera in Yonkers
YONKERS, New York (WABC) — In a brazen act of theft, a porch pirate was caught on camera stealing not one, but two packages from a home in Yonkers.
The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Jose Eder Mateo, was captured on video taking the packages and swiftly stuffing them into his bookbag.

A vigilant homeowner witnessed the theft in progress through his Ring camera and immediately contacted 911.
Responding officers spotted Mateo, who then led them on a brief foot pursuit. Fortunately, a Yonkers public works employee also noticed the suspect fleeing and intervened, helping to apprehend Mateo by pushing him to the ground.
Following his arrest, Mateo has been arraigned and released on his own recognizance. He now faces charges of grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property, both of which are felonies, in addition to other misdemeanors.
