Charleston Police Department Seeks Public Assistance in Solving Berkeley County Woman’s death

CHARLESTON, WV – The Charleston Police Department (CPD) is reaching out to the public, appealing for their help in an ongoing investigation into the death of a Berkeley County woman whose body was discovered in Charleston in February. The CPD has identified the woman as 31-year-old Tamber Bernelle Johnson, a resident of Falling Waters in Berkeley County, West Virginia, according to the recent findings by the FBI National Index System.

The discovery of Johnson’s body was made on February 21, 2023, by inmates who were cleaning the area near West Virginia International Yeager Airport along Greenbrier Street. Uncovered beneath a blanket, her body raised immediate concerns and prompted an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.

Shortly after the discovery, the CPD released sketches of Johnson’s distinctive tattoos, hoping that these visual details would aid in her identification. However, despite these efforts, her cause of death remains unknown as the West Virginia State Medical Examiner’s report has not yet been released.
