The Ocala Police Department has taken a suspect into custody in connection with a motor vehicle collision involving a cyclist that resulted in a fatality on Sunday. According to law enforcement, a traffic homicide investigator from the Ocala Police Department responded to the 3100 block of NW Blitchton Road, where a cyclist, identified as 61-year-old Louis Osiel, was struck and killed by a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, 43-year-old Elizabeth Pizzonia, has now been arrested for DUI manslaughter and leaving the scene of a crash involving a death. Upon her return to the scene, Pizzonia was observed by the police to exhibit signs of impairment, including bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and the odor of alcohol on her breath. In addition, she displayed indications of impairment during field sobriety tests, such as swaying, halting movements, and incorrect maneuvers, as reported by the Ocala Police Department. Pizzonia declined to provide a voluntary blood sample and subsequently refused the mandatory breath test, according to the Ocala Police Department.

Now, the Ocala Police Department reports that the driver of the vehicle, 43-year-old Elizabeth Pizzonia, has been taken into custody for DUI manslaughter and fleeing the scene of an accident with a fatality.

Upon her return to the scene, law enforcement stated that Pizzonia displayed signs of impairment, including bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and the smell of alcohol on her breath. Additionally, she exhibited indications of impairment during field sobriety tests, such as swaying, halting movements, and incorrect maneuvers, according to the Ocala Police Department.

Pizzonia declined to provide a voluntary blood sample and later refused to undergo the mandatory breath test, as per the Ocala Police Department.
