JAJPUR: A 65-year-old woman tragically lost her life after coming into contact with a live electric wire that snapped and fell on her at Itapada village, situated under the Kamaradiha panchayat of Dasarathpur block in Jajpur district on Monday.
The victim has been identified as Laxmipriya Barik, a resident of the village. According to a source, the incident occurred around 5:30 am when Laxmipriya was sweeping the front side of her house. Unexpectedly, an overhead low tension (LT) line snapped and fell on her, resulting in her immediate death.
Expressing their anger and frustration, local residents have highlighted the recurring nature of such incidents in their area. Raghunath Das, a local, alleged, “Despite numerous complaints to the electricity department officials of Tata Power in the past, urging them to replace the existing LT lines with cable lines, no action has been taken.”
