21-Year-Old Arrested for Illegal Sale of Mephentermine Sulphate Injection: Pune City Police

Accident – Death – Obituary News : The Pune City police have apprehended a 21-year-old individual for engaging in the illicit sale of Mephentermine Sulphate Injection, a cardiac stimulant that is often abused as a performance-enhancing drug. The suspect, identified as Kiran Vitthal Shinde, 21, was found in possession of 30 vials of the drug, valued at over Rs 60,000. Authorities have initiated an investigation into the suspect’s supply and distribution network.

Acting on a specific tipoff, a team from the Hadapsar police station in Pune City focused their attention on Shinde, who was allegedly operating in the Bhumkar Mala area of Narhe. On Monday, around 1:30 pm, the police set up a trap and successfully apprehended the suspect.

Shinde has been charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 328 (causing harm by means of poison with intent to commit an offense), 273 (sale of noxious food or drink), 276 (sale of drug as a different drug or preparation), and 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others).

A thorough investigation is now underway to uncover the supply and distribution network of Shinde and his accomplices. Authorities suspect that the drug was primarily being sold to individuals frequenting gyms, who intended to use it as a performance enhancer.

Officials have highlighted that Mephentermine Sulphate Injection is a cardiac stimulant and vasoconstrictor, typically administered under medical supervision for emergency cases of low blood pressure. However, it has been observed that the drug is often misused by athletes, particularly bodybuilders, as a means to enhance their performance. Prolonged use of the drug can lead to dependence, and an overdose can prove to be fatal.

In the past, the Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad police have arrested multiple suspects and seized a significant quantity of vials associated with this illegal trade.
