Tel Aviv: In a tragic incident, two journalists from the Qatar-based media network Al Jazeera, named Hamza Wael Dahdouh and Mustafa Thuria, lost their lives in an Israeli strike that took place in the Gaza Strip. Another journalist, Hazem Rajab, who was traveling with Dahdouh and Thuria, sustained severe injuries after their car was hit by two rockets. According to Al Jazeera, all three journalists were en route to perform their duties for the channel in the Gaza Strip.   • Al Jazeera strongly condemned the killing of its journalists and accused Israeli forces of violating the principles of press freedom. The United States Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, also expressed his condemnation, referring to it as an “unimaginable tragedy.”
  • As the Israel-Hamas war entered its fourth month, the German Foreign Minister, Annalena Baerbock, called on Jerusalem to ease its military campaign in the Gaza Strip. Baerbock emphasized that the suffering of innocent people cannot continue and urged for less intensive operations.
  • During a news conference in Doha alongside Qatar’s Prime Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Blinken stated that the Israel-Hamas conflict in the Gaza Strip has the potential to spread and jeopardize the security of the Middle East. He also urged Israel to take more measures to facilitate the return of Palestinians to their homes.
  • A tragic incident occurred at a checkpoint in the occupied West Bank, where a three-year-old Palestinian girl lost her life in a car-ramming attack. The Israeli police reported that the girl, who was in another vehicle at the checkpoint, was injured during a shootout with terrorists and succumbed to her bullet wound.
  • According to the Palestinian Authority Ministry of Health, an Israeli raid in Jenin, in the occupied West Bank, resulted in the loss of lives of at least six civilians. On the other hand, Israeli forces claimed to have dismantled the military leadership of the Hamas group in northern Gaza.

Human Losses in the Israel-Hamas Conflict

The Hamas militants also took approximately 250 hostages, with 132 remaining in captivity. In retaliation, the Israeli forces initiated relentless bombardment and ground invasion in the Gaza Strip, resulting in the deaths of over 22,800 individuals.
