New Delhi: A 17-year-old student reportedly met a tragic end after plunging from the terrace of a building in the Narela area of Delhi, as confirmed by the police on Sunday.

The Delhi Police received an emergency call (PCR) at 12:54 pm on Sunday, alerting them about a person who had allegedly jumped off the terrace of a building located at Pocket 1C between Sectors A1 to A4 in Narela.

Upon arrival at the scene, the police discovered the lifeless body of the young boy identified as Mayank (17), a resident of Gandhi Ashram Road in Narela. Authorities revealed that Mayank was an 11th-grade student who left his residence at approximately 10:30 AM to attend coaching classes at the Gyangunj coaching centre in Narela.

During the investigation, the police questioned the security guard stationed at the main gate of the building complex. It was revealed that the deceased entered the building complex at 11:30 AM. The entry register showed that he intended to visit E3-406, which was also scribbled on his left palm using blue ink. Subsequently, the crime team was summoned to the location for further examination.

The body of the deceased has been preserved at Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital while the statements of the security guard and eyewitnesses were recorded by the police.

Authorities have indicated that no evidence suggesting foul play has been found so far, leading them to believe it is a case of suicide.

The case is being investigated under section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

Additional information will be provided as soon as it becomes available.
