Two Elderly Individuals Found Deceased in Overheated Spartanburg Home

In Spartanburg, South Carolina, a tragic incident unfolded on Saturday when authorities discovered two lifeless bodies in a residence that had reached dangerously high temperatures. The local police department responded to a welfare check request from concerned family members around 6 p.m. at a property situated on Woodview Avenue.

Upon arrival, law enforcement officers and emergency medical services personnel managed to gain access to the dwelling, only to find the lifeless bodies of 84-year-old Joan Littlejohn and 82-year-old Glennwood Fowler.

According to the official report released by the Spartanburg Police Department, the temperature inside the house exceeded a scorching 120 degrees. This extreme heat led firefighters, who were called to the scene, to discover an excessively hot heater in the basement. The temperature reading inside the heater reached a staggering 1,000 degrees before it could be deactivated.

While the cause of death is still under investigation by the coroner’s office, authorities express deep concern over the excessively high temperature found within the residence. The investigation aims to shed light on the circumstances that led to such hazardous conditions.
