Muzaffarnagar Toddler Dies from Suffocation Due to Left-On Room Heater
Muzaffarnagar, a city in Uttar Pradesh, witnessed a tragic incident where an 18-month-old child lost his life due to suffocation caused by a room heater left on overnight. The incident took place in the Civil Lines area of Muzaffarnagar.

Early on Sunday morning, the neighbours discovered the family in an unconscious state and immediately rushed them to the nearby hospital. Sadly, the toddler was declared dead on arrival, while his parents and 5-year-old sister received medical treatment at the district hospital.
Sanjay Singh, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Civil Lines, stated, “Police have inspected the house and initiated an investigation into the matter. The parents of the victim are currently undergoing treatment.”
The grandmother of the deceased child, Shakeela Begum, shared her grief, saying, “My son, Waseem Khan, who is 40 years old, along with his wife Afsan, 35, and their children, Ilma and Aman, were sleeping in a room. To combat the cold weather, my son purchased a room heater and kept it on throughout the night. Unfortunately, they were discovered unconscious the next morning.” She further added that Waseem works as an e-rickshaw driver and they live in a small house in Muzaffarnagar.
This incident serves as a reminder of the potential dangers associated with room heaters when not used with caution. Leaving room heaters unattended or on for an extended period can lead to suffocation, fire hazards, and other accidents. It is crucial for individuals to follow safety guidelines and take necessary precautions when using such appliances, especially during the winter season.

A married couple in their 40s, Laxman Koli and Chanda, tragically lost their lives in Kota. The couple likely suffocated due to the smoke generated from burnt firewood beneath a pot of non-vegetarian curry in their unventilated room. Laxman worked as a guard at a marriage garden in Banjara colony, where their bodies were discovered side by side on the floor after the door was broken open by SHO Kishorepura Harlal Meena.
