Woman Arrested for Allegedly Hiring Hitmen to Murder Transgender Husband

A 30-year-old woman from Siddipet district in Telangana has been apprehended by the police for allegedly orchestrating the murder of her estranged husband, who identified as a transgender person. The woman, along with the two hired assassins, was arrested on Sunday, following an extensive investigation.

The accused allegedly offered a staggering sum of ₹18 lakh to the contract killers to eliminate her 35-year-old partner. As a sign of her intent, she had already paid an advance of ₹4.6 lakh to the hitmen. The gruesome incident occurred on December 11 of the previous year, when the victim was tragically “killed.”

Marital Separation Triggered by Transgender Revelation

The police initially registered the case as a suspicious death, but later uncovered evidence that led to the arrest of the woman and her accomplices for murder. The victim, known as Roja (formerly Daripalli Venkatesh), had tied the knot with Veda Shree, a resident of Bhoi Galli Colony in Siddipet district, back in 2014. The couple even welcomed a child into the world in 2015, as reported by the New Indian Express.

However, their marriage hit troubled waters when Roja allegedly began subjecting Veda Shree to harassment over additional dowry demands. Subsequently, Roja made the courageous decision to come out as a trans woman and underwent gender reassignment surgery. The couple then opted to live separately due to the ongoing marital discord, with Veda, who worked as a private school teacher, taking custody of their daughter.

Harassment and Demands for Child Support Lead to a Sinister Plot

According to NDTV, Roja continued to “harass” Veda Shree, who held an accounting position in a private school. The transgender individual would frequently cause disturbances at the woman’s workplace, as she sought financial support for herself and their child. Eventually, the school management had no choice but to terminate Veda Shree’s employment due to the ongoing “nuisance.”

Infuriated by this turn of events, Veda Shree devised a sinister plan to eliminate her estranged spouse. During their separation, she had begun living with a man named Ramesh from Siddipet. Together, Veda Shree and Ramesh orchestrated a plot to murder Roja.

During the police investigation, it was revealed that Ramesh and another associate offered alcohol to Roja before smothering her to death with pillows while she slept. The perpetrators attempted to pass off the murder as a natural death, but their lies were soon exposed by the diligent cops. Subsequently, Veda Shree reportedly confessed to her crimes during the course of the investigation.

This shocking incident serves as a grim reminder of the complexities and challenges faced by individuals within the transgender community. The Telangana police have taken swift action to bring justice in this case, ensuring that the perpetrators face the full force of the law.
