Kandivali Police Seize Country-Made Pistol and Live Cartridges from Suspect

In a recent incident, the Kandivali police have successfully confiscated a country-made pistol and three live cartridges from a 41-year-old individual named Dinesh Kadam. The seizure took place in Ghatkopar, Mumbai. A case has been registered against the suspect under the relevant sections of the Arms Act and the Maharashtra Police Act at the Kandivali police station on January 6.

Police Discover Pistol and Live Cartridges during Operation

Acting on a tip-off, the police received information that an individual would be attempting to sell his pistol in front of Raghulila Mall, Boraspada, Kandivali West. In response, the police promptly set up a trap in the specified area. On Saturday, at 12:55 a.m., an individual arrived at Raghulila Mall carrying a white bag and exhibiting signs of distress while waiting for someone.

The police swiftly apprehended the suspect and conducted a thorough inspection. To their surprise, they discovered a loaded pistol concealed in the white bag and three live cartridges in the suspect’s left pants pocket.

Lack of Firearm License Raises Suspicions

During the course of the investigation, the suspect identified himself as Dinesh Kadam, aged 41. However, when asked to produce a firearm license, he failed to do so, raising suspicions about the legality of the weapon. The police are currently conducting further investigations to determine the source and intent behind the possession of the firearm.

The successful operation was executed by Assistant Police Inspector Hemant Gite and his team, under the supervision of Senior Police Inspector Sandeep Vishwasrao at the Kandivali police station.
