The Tunica County Sheriff’s Office received a distress call on Friday night from a neighbor who reported that a juvenile had come to their residence, stating that their mother had been shot inside an apartment unit in Robinsonville.

Deputies arrived at the scene and heard additional gunshots coming from inside the apartment. Upon investigation, they found a Black female, later identified as 34-year-old Shaterica Queshun Bell, along with her newborn child and another Black male inside the home. Two minors, believed to be the woman’s children, were outside the building.

The officers established communication with the male suspect, Donald Demario Patrick, through a phone call. They were able to persuade him to surrender his weapon and come out of the residence. Patrick was immediately taken into custody.

During questioning, Patrick admitted to shooting Bell, who tragically succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Fortunately, the infant was found unharmed inside the apartment.
