Gurugram Police Arrests Woman in Connection with Murder of Former Model Divya Pahuja

The Gurugram police made a significant breakthrough on Monday by arresting a 20-year-old woman in connection with the murder of former model Divya Pahuja. The incident took place on January 2 at a hotel in the city, where Divya was shot dead. The woman, identified as Megha and a resident of Najafgarh in Delhi, has been accused of aiding the prime accused, Abhijeet Singh, the hotel owner. Megha allegedly helped hide the murder weapon and dispose of Divya’s personal belongings.

Megha was apprehended from her residence in Najafgarh and was later produced in a city court, which remanded her in police custody for two days. According to reports, Megha was employed with an online food delivery company. Vijay Pratap Singh, DCP (crime), stated, “The woman has been taken on a 2-day police remand for further questioning. She would be thoroughly questioned about her involvement in the incident and the weapon used in the murder, as well as the documents and personal belongings of the deceased.”

The arrest of Megha brings the total number of individuals arrested in this case to four. The police had already apprehended the main accused, Abhijit Singh, along with Hemraj and Omprakash. However, authorities are still conducting raids to apprehend the remaining two suspects, Balraj Gill and Ravi Bandra.

During interrogation, Abhijeet Singh reportedly confessed to calling Megha to Hotel City Point after the murder and instructed her to dispose of the deceased woman’s belongings. Despite the arrests, the police have yet to recover Divya’s body, raising concerns that the accused may have discarded it in the Ghaggar river near Patiala.

To aid in the recovery efforts, a police team, along with divers, is currently searching the river. However, the investigation is ongoing, and Divya’s body has not been found thus far. The murder took place on January 2, and CCTV footage captured three men dragging Divya’s body, wrapped in a sheet, out of the hotel and placing it in the trunk of a blue BMW car. The suspects then fled the crime scene in the same vehicle but were apprehended the following day.

It is worth noting that Divya Pahuja was not only a former model but also an accused in the murder of gangster Sandeep Gadoli. The encounter, which took place in a Mumbai hotel on February 7, 2016, had sparked controversy. Divya, who was reportedly Gadoli’s girlfriend, was arrested alongside her mother and five policemen by the Mumbai Police in connection with the incident. Officials revealed that Virendra Kumar, also known as Binder Gujjar, a rival gang member, conspired with Haryana Police officials to orchestrate Gadoli’s elimination.

Although Gujjar was in prison during the encounter, he allegedly devised a plan and involved Divya as a honey-trap to carry out Gadoli’s murder. After being held for seven years, Divya was granted bail by the Bombay High Court in June 2023.
