According to Dudash, the incident occurred at approximately 2:21 a.m. when a 2016 Honda Civic, driven by a 35-year-old man from the Somerset section of Franklin, was heading northbound on Route 1 at Plainfield Avenue. The driver had a green traffic light at the time of the collision.

Tragically, Ginsberg, who was walking across the road, ventured in front of the Honda Civic and was struck by the vehicle. Immediate medical attention was provided, and Ginsberg was rushed to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. However, despite the efforts of medical professionals, Ginsberg succumbed to his injuries and passed away.

The investigation into the incident is currently ongoing, with no charges filed against the driver as of yet. Deputy Police Chief Dudash mentioned that there was a witness present at the scene, which will likely aid in the investigation.

This unfortunate incident serves as a somber reminder of the importance of road safety and pedestrian awareness. Authorities urge both pedestrians and drivers to exercise caution and follow traffic rules diligently to prevent such tragic accidents from occurring in the future.
