Buffalo Man Sentenced to 20 Years in Prison for Fatal Shooting Outside Corner Store

BUFFALO, N.Y. – In a recent announcement by the Erie County District Attorney’s office, it was revealed that Mahzhee X. Young, a 31-year-old resident of Buffalo, has been sentenced to serve time in prison for the fatal shooting of a man outside a corner store in 2020.

Young’s sentencing includes 20 years in prison, followed by five years of post-release supervision. The guilty plea of one count of manslaughter in the first degree was made by Young in October 2023.

The incident took place in June 2020, at approximately 11:18 p.m., when Young engaged in a verbal altercation with the victim outside a corner store located on East Ferry and Grider streets. Authorities stated that Young used an illegal weapon to shoot the victim.

The victim, identified as 27-year-old David D. Moore, was immediately rushed to Erie County Medical Center (ECMC) for treatment. Unfortunately, Moore succumbed to his injuries and passed away at the hospital.

This tragic incident prompted an extensive investigation by law enforcement, leading to Young’s indictment for murder and gun charges.
