New Delhi Police Arrests Two Men Involved in Lajpat Nagar Assault

New Delhi: In a major breakthrough, the special cell of the Delhi Police has apprehended two men allegedly involved in a brutal assault and firing incident that took place in Lajpat Nagar, south-east Delhi, two months ago. The accused, believed to be associated with notorious gangsters Neeraj Bawana and Naveen Bali, were responsible for the attack that caused panic in the area.

The investigation revealed that the Bawana-Bali syndicate has been actively recruiting young shooters through social media platforms, as part of their efforts to revive their gang. According to a police officer, the suspects, identified as Subeh Singh and Saurabh, have a history of involvement in multiple cases of murder, extortion, and attempted murders.

The arrests were made by a team led by Inspector Man Singh, who received a tip-off about the presence of the wanted criminals in Munirka. Subsequently, Sub-Inspectors Manish Sundar and Shiv set up a trap and successfully apprehended the suspects.

Special Commissioner of Police HGS Dhaliwal stated, “During the investigation, it came to light that there has been an ongoing rivalry between Kapil Panwar and the Neeraj Bawana/Naveen Bali gangs in order to establish supremacy in the south Delhi area.” He further added that the Bawana-Bali group has recently recruited new and young members, signaling their intention to become a major challenge for law enforcement once again.

The motive behind the assault was the rivalry between the Kapil Panwar gang and the Bawana-Bali gang. Two shooters attacked a financier named Rohit Singh, whom they suspected of being affiliated with Panwar, on November 3, 2023. The incident resulted in chaos, with one of the bullets hitting an innocent bystander. Following the incident, the suspects fled Delhi but returned in January to commit another crime, leading to their arrest.
