Tragic Crash Claims Life of 39-Year-Old Man in Maple Ridge

A devastating collision in Maple Ridge has resulted in the death of a 39-year-old man and left another individual injured. The Ridge Meadows RCMP swiftly responded to the scene of the serious accident at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Upon arrival at Haney Bypass near 277 Street, law enforcement discovered two vehicles severely damaged.

According to eyewitness accounts, the driver of a Pontiac Sunfire was allegedly seen veering into the oncoming lane, ultimately colliding with a Honda Civic. The impact of the crash proved fatal for the 39-year-old man from Abbotsford, who was identified as the driver of the Pontiac Sunfire by the police. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The driver of the Honda Civic, however, survived the harrowing incident and was promptly transported to the hospital with serious, yet non-life threatening injuries. The Ridge Meadows RCMP believe that speed played a significant role in causing the collision.

Additionally, a Kia Rio suffered damages due to flying debris from the crash. Fortunately, the driver of the Kia Rio emerged unscathed from the incident.

In light of the severity of the collision, the Investigational Support Team and the Integrated Reconstruction Analysis Reconstruction Team were dispatched to assist with the investigation. As a result, a section of Haney Bypass between Burnett Street and 227 Street remained closed for several hours to facilitate the examination of the scene.
