Dalit Man Allegedly Beaten to death Over Love Affair in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh

Muzaffarnagar (UP), January 8 (PTI) – A shocking incident unfolded in Khatauli police station area of Muzaffarnagar district, where a 21-year-old Dalit man named Ankit was allegedly beaten to death by a group of individuals. The incident occurred on Sunday night in Jasola village, revealing the grim reality of caste-based violence still prevalent in society.
Khatauli Circle Officer Ravi Shanker informed PTI that upon receiving the information, the police quickly reached the location and immediately rushed the injured Ankit to a nearby hospital. However, despite their efforts, the doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
The police have sent Ankit’s body for a postmortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of his demise. A case has been registered against unidentified assailants under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and relevant sections of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, reflecting the severity of the crime committed.
According to the complaint lodged by Ankit’s family, he had been held captive in a house since Sunday evening due to his alleged involvement in a love affair with a woman. The police are currently investigating the matter and are determined to bring the culprits to justice.
