Tragic St. Paul House Fire Claims Lives of Three Children, Leaving Others in Critical Condition

ST. PAUL, Minn. – In a devastating incident, three out of the six children rescued from a house fire in St. Paul on Wednesday have tragically lost their lives. As of Saturday morning, the remaining three children and their mother remain in critical condition, fighting for their lives.

The young victims have been identified as 5-year-old Siv Ntshiab and her twin brother Ntshiab Si, along with 4-year-old Mauj Tshos Ntaj, who also succumbed to their injuries.

During a press conference held on Saturday morning, Pa Cheng, the father of the six children, expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support received from the community during this difficult time. He said, “Thank you to everyone who has shown support, prayed for us, and helped us in any way. As a parent, I truly appreciate your prayers and support. It means a lot to us.”

Pa Cheng Vang never anticipated that the beginning of the new year would be the last joyful moments he shared with his beloved children. Now, he and his family are facing the challenging road ahead, trying to cope with the unimaginable loss.

In light of this tragic incident, Pa Cheng Vang emphasized the importance of practicing fire drills at home. He urged every family to conduct fire drills at least once every quarter or semester, especially during the night, to ensure preparedness and safety.

The heart-wrenching ordeal has deeply affected the family, as Yong Vang, the great aunt, described the agonizing experience of watching her nephew endure the pain of losing his children. She shared, “To hold his children and hear that one won’t make it, and to be faced with the decision to let go, it’s heart-wrenching. I look at my nephew, and despite his own pain, he remains strong. I admire his strength, as I don’t know if I could bear such a burden.”

The St. Paul house fire occurred on Wednesday morning at a residence located on the 1200 block of Arkwright Street North. All seven victims were found unconscious inside the home. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire, although it does not appear to be suspicious.

Following the tragedy, an online fundraiser has been set up for the family, which has already amassed more than $300,000 in donations. Additionally, a trust fund is being established to further support the family during this difficult time.
