Tragic Fire Claims Lives of Three Children in St. Paul Home
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — The devastating fire that engulfed a family home in St. Paul, Minnesota, has tragically claimed the lives of three young children, according to family members who spoke at a news conference on Saturday.

Paying tribute to the immense support they have received from the local community, Pa Cheng Vang, the children’s father, expressed his gratitude. The fire broke out early Wednesday while he was at work, leaving the family in a state of shock and grief.
The young victims have been identified as 5-year-old twin girls, Sivntxhi Vang and Ntshiab Si Vang, and a 4-year-old boy, Manj Those Nutj Vang. Sivntxhi tragically lost her life on Wednesday, and the family announced the heartbreaking news of the two other deaths on Saturday.
As the community joins the grieving family in mourning the loss of these innocent lives, a 1-year-old child and their 28-year-old mother remain hospitalized in critical condition. Thankfully, the conditions of two other children who were also injured in the fire have shown signs of improvement.
During the news conference, the father stressed the importance of fire drills for every family, especially during nighttime hours. He pleaded with other families to take proactive measures, stating, “I don’t want any family, or the community, to witness the same devastating loss that my family is experiencing.”

St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter stood alongside the family, offering his support during this difficult time. The mayor shared a personal connection with the family, as Vang’s wife, Ker Lor, had previously interned in his office.
Addressing the family’s unimaginable pain, Mayor Carter empathetically said, “You’ve endured all of our worst nightmares.”
The fire, deemed accidental but still under investigation, has raised concerns about fire safety practices in homes. Deputy Fire Chief Roy Mokosso confirmed that the house had functioning smoke detectors.
