Pastor Arrested for Alleged Defilement of 16-Year-Old Girl in Ogun State

Authorities from the Ogun State Police Command have apprehended Pastor Clinton John of the Mega World Healing Ministry, located in Giwa Agbado, Ifo Local Government Area of the state. The pastor stands accused of defiling a 16-year-old girl.

According to SP Omolola Odutola, the Police Public Relations Officer, the alleged sexual abuse had been ongoing since 2022 when the victim was only 14 years old. The victim revealed that the 43-year-old pastor had repeatedly engaged in unlawful sexual activities with her.

The victim further disclosed that the pastor had threatened to harm her if she ever disclosed the illicit affair to anyone. It was the girl’s family who eventually reported the incident to the police after becoming suspicious that their daughter had been sexually assaulted, as she had been treated for recurring infections.

SP Omolola Odutola explained that the victim displayed alarming behaviors, causing her parents to suspect that she might have engaged in sexual intercourse but concealed the identity of her partner.

“A family in Giwa Agbado, Ogun State, reported a case of alleged defilement to the Agbado divisional Police Station. Their 16-year-old daughter had been repeatedly treated for recurring infections and displayed alarming behaviors that made her parents suspect she might have been involved in sexual intercourse, but they were unable to identify the person,” said the statement.

Upon being persuaded by her family, the 16-year-old girl eventually confessed that Pastor Clinton John of the Mega World Healing Ministry had been forcefully engaging in unlawful sexual activities with her since November 2022. The victim also stated that the pastor had threatened to kill her if she ever revealed the sordid affair.

Following his arrest, Pastor Clinton John confessed to the crime during interrogation, admitting to having engaged in unlawful sexual activities with the 16-year-old girl on multiple occasions. The victim has been provided with medical forms for treatment and examination.

Pastor Clinton Oscar will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department Eleweran for further investigation.

In a separate incident in Ogun State, a 26-year-old man named Monday Agbowade was arrested for allegedly defiling an 11-year-old girl in Araromi Village, near the Idi-Oke area.

Furthermore, the police are currently in pursuit of two suspected rapists who allegedly defiled two minors in the Isabo area of Abeokuta and Abule-Osho in the Olambe area of Ifo Local Government Area.

These cases of sexual abuse highlight the pressing need for increased efforts in protecting vulnerable individuals, particularly minors, from such heinous crimes. The Ogun State Police Command remains dedicated to thoroughly investigating these incidents and ensuring that the perpetrators face the full force of the law.
