Mick Sneddon Identified as Victim of Australia’s 42nd Drowning this Summer

Mick Sneddon, a loving father who always prioritized his family, has been tragically identified as the victim of Australia’s 42nd drowning incident this summer. While his passing adds to the alarming statistics, Sneddon’s relatives want the world to remember him not just as a number but as a cherished individual.

Sneddon’s final moments with his youngest son, Kody, have left an indelible scar on the family. Yesterday, they decided to cool off with a swim at unpatrolled Ettalong Beach on the New South Wales Central Coast. However, tragedy struck when Sneddon stepped off a sand bank and found himself caught in a strong current.

Witnessing his father go under, 10-year-old Kody bravely attempted to help him, as did a group of nearby jetskiers. One of the traumatized individuals, who preferred to remain anonymous, shared their account of the incident, describing how they did their utmost to assist.

According to one of the witnesses, they recounted, “His face was under water and the kid was on top of him, and then I just jumped in. Another guy grabbed the kid. I flipped the guy around, waved down the Maritime. Maritime came over, threw him on the boat, and started CPR. Another guy started CPR.”

The tragic incident marks the 42nd death in Australian waters this summer, raising concerns about the lack of improvement in safety measures. Comparatively, this time last year, there were 38 reported incidents, indicating a worrying trend.
