Accident – Death – Obituary News : **Man Arrested After Repeating Daring Escape Tactics in Los Angeles County**

A man who had been evading law enforcement for nearly two years was finally apprehended on Thursday after attempting to escape once again using the same tactics. The suspect, identified as George “Rand” Akrey, 38, hailing from Woodland Hills, was taken into custody around 12:20 p.m. on Ventura Boulevard in Woodland Hills, following an intensive operation conducted by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.

Akrey had been a wanted man since April 2022 when he failed to appear for a scheduled court hearing on 21 counts of grand theft. Consequently, five felony warrants were issued for his arrest. Authorities had been on the lookout for him ever since.

In a twist of fate, Akrey’s attempt at escape mirrored his previous encounter with law enforcement. In the following month after going on the run, detectives from the Moorpark Investigations Unit tracked him down in a remote area of Lancaster. However, when the detectives tried to apprehend him, Akrey rammed one of their vehicles with a “large truck,” causing severe injury to one deputy and providing him with an opportunity to flee. This act resulted in an additional warrant being issued in Los Angeles County, charging him with assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer.

Over the course of the next year, the investigation into Akrey’s whereabouts continued. Detectives eventually discovered that he had resorted to using multiple fake and stolen identities, forged documents, and even altering his appearance to avoid capture. Assisting him in these efforts was his girlfriend, Kierstyn Robinson, a 30-year-old woman who aided in concealing his identity.

On the day of his arrest, investigators from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office made a concerted effort to bring Akrey into custody. However, he once again resorted to desperate measures, ramming his vehicle into two law enforcement vehicles in a bid to escape. To counter his dangerous actions and protect the lives of the officers present and the public, deputies deployed undisclosed “less-lethal” alternatives to remove Akrey from the driver’s seat.

Akrey was promptly arrested for his outstanding warrants and is currently being held without bail at the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility. He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday. Additionally, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office will review the case to consider additional charges of assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer during his arrest.

Shortly after Akrey’s arrest, Robinson was apprehended without incident in Simi Valley. She was subsequently booked into jail and is currently being held on $10,000 bail as she awaits charges for aiding a known fugitive. Robinson is also expected to appear in court on Monday.

This latest development signifies a major breakthrough for law enforcement agencies, who have been tirelessly pursuing Akrey for nearly two years. The successful arrest serves as a testament to their determination and commitment to keeping communities safe..
