Police Evacuate Apartment Units During Confrontation

PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) – A man was apprehended early Saturday morning following an intense overnight standoff with the Portland Police Bureau in southeast Portland. This incident led to the evacuation of several apartment units as a precautionary measure, according to police sources.

At approximately 10 p.m. on Friday, law enforcement officers from the Portland Police Bureau swiftly responded to reports of a male individual brandishing a firearm at people in a restaurant parking lot located in the 10500 block of Southeast Stark Street.

Upon arrival, the police quickly identified the suspect, who then fled into the breezeway of an apartment building situated near the intersection of Southeast 105th Avenue and Southeast Pine Street. The individual in question exhibited non-cooperative behavior and adamantly refused to surrender, leading to a prolonged confrontation with law enforcement officials.

Recognizing the complexity and potential danger of the situation, tactical police units were summoned to the scene. As a precautionary measure, officers proceeded to evacuate adjacent apartment units to ensure the safety of residents and minimize potential risks.
