Gram Sachiv Dies After Falling from Second Floor During Investigation

Hisar, a district in Haryana, witnessed a tragic incident when a gram sachiv (panchayat secretary) fell off the second floor of his brother’s house during an investigation into an FIR of embezzlement. The deceased, identified as 51-year-old Ram Prasad, was a resident of Arya Nagar, Hisar.

The incident occurred after an FIR was registered at Behal police station on January 3, 2024, following the instructions of agriculture minister JP Dalal. Ram Prasad was arrested on January 4, 2024, and the next day, he was taken to his brother’s house by four police personnel, including the Behal police station in-charge, for further investigation.

According to Shankar Lal, Ram Prasad’s elder brother, a scuffle broke out on the second floor during the investigation. The police station in-charge, Sumit, allegedly pushed Ram Prasad from the second floor. The police immediately took him for treatment without disclosing the name of the hospital.

This incident has left the residents of Arya Nagar in shock and mourning. Ram Prasad was a well-known figure in the community and his untimely demise has created a void that will be hard to fill.
