Authorities have apprehended a wanted fugitive after a high-speed pursuit that occurred on Thursday, January 4th.

According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, they were conducting a follow-up investigation in collaboration with the Wisconsin State Patrol regarding the whereabouts of a 43-year-old man from Rockford, Illinois, who was wanted as a fugitive.

The suspect had two extraditable warrants from Illinois and was also identified as the alleged driver involved in a high-speed chase with the Wisconsin State Patrol and Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies on January 2nd.

At approximately 10:53 a.m. on Thursday, January 4th, law enforcement officers spotted the suspect at a business in the Town of Addison. The suspect immediately attempted to evade capture by fleeing in his vehicle, initiating a pursuit on County Highway W southbound, north of Crooked Road in the Town of Addison.

Throughout the high-speed chase, the suspect skillfully evaded multiple tire deflation devices deployed by the pursuing officers. However, the suspect’s vehicle was partially disabled when it struck tire deflation devices deployed by members of the Hartford Police Department on Kettle Moraine Road near Gateway Ave.

Undeterred, the suspect continued to flee from law enforcement and even drove against traffic in the eastbound lanes of State Highway 60 and Franklin Drive in the City of Hartford.

Due to the extreme danger posed by the suspect’s actions as a wrong-way driver, a Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputy intentionally collided with the suspect’s vehicle to neutralize the threat.

Following the collision, the suspect’s vehicle became disabled, prompting him to flee on foot. With the assistance of Hartford Police Department’s K9 unit, specifically K9 Flash, the suspect was successfully apprehended.

Currently, the suspect is in custody at Washington County Jail, and the Washington County District Attorney’s Office is reviewing the case, with the expectation of filing criminal charges in the near future.

Fortunately, there were no reported injuries to civilians resulting from this incident.
