ORANGE — The Orange Police Department has acknowledged the ongoing speculation surrounding the shooting deaths of four individuals on New Year’s Day and has provided an update on the investigation. Captain Jonathan Baggett has revealed that the police are waiting for preliminary reports before releasing further information.

Captain Baggett has confirmed that autopsies have been conducted on the deceased individuals, and the police are currently awaiting the preliminary reports. In their pursuit of justice, the police have received crucial cooperation from the neighbors residing at 2406 North 8th Street. Baggett expressed gratitude towards the neighbors who have provided surveillance videos, which have proven to be valuable evidence in the investigation.

Additionally, the authorities have interviewed the individual who made the 911 call on Monday morning, leading to the discovery of the four deceased individuals who had suffered apparent gunshot wounds.

Baggett emphasized that once the preliminary reports are complete, the police will release additional information. However, the comprehensive report, including toxicology results, may take longer to generate.

With 18 years of experience in the Orange Police Department, Captain Baggett shared that this was the first case he had encountered involving four fatalities resulting from the same incident. The autopsies on the victims were ordered by Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 Chad Jenkins, who explained that Orange County is contracted with Jefferson County for autopsies.

Sergeant Isaac Henry III declined to provide specific information regarding the individual who reported the crime or the connections between the victims and the suspected shooter.
