Southold Man Receives Threatening Messages from Unknown Sender

A 62-year-old Southold resident reported to the police on December 27th that he had been targeted with multiple threatening text messages from various unknown numbers. One of the messages claimed to be from a person named “Franco Cervantes” who identified himself as a member of the “cartel.” The sender demanded a sum of money from the Southold man and issued a death threat if the payment was not made. Disturbingly, “Cervantes” also shared graphic images of murder victims and firearms. The police have initiated an ongoing investigation to apprehend the culprits behind these threats.

East Marion Man Falls Victim to Financial Scam

According to a recent report, a 62-year-old resident of East Marion was targeted in a financial scam. The victim received a text message from an individual claiming to represent Chase Bank. The fraudster requested the man’s Chase username and password, which he naively provided. Subsequently, the scammer instructed the victim to wire a total of $27,800 to a specified Chase account. Although Chase Bank managed to intercept one of the transfers, the victim ultimately lost $27,800. The local authorities are actively investigating this case to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Greenport Man Arrested for Failing to Maintain Lane

Greenport resident Edgar Torres, 43, was taken into custody on Friday after being identified as the driver of a vehicle that had failed to maintain its lane on South Street in Greenport. Torres was apprehended by the police and subsequently held at Southold police headquarters pending arraignment.

Southold Resident Faces DWI Charges Following Accident

Jonas Graseck, a 49-year-old Southold resident, was arrested on Monday for driving while intoxicated (DWI) after his vehicle collided with a guardrail at the end of Sound Road in Greenport. During the investigation, it was determined that Graseck was intoxicated, leading to his arrest and transportation to Southold police headquarters for processing. Due to a prior DWI conviction, his vehicle was seized and towed to police headquarters. Graseck will be held for morning arraignment to face charges related to the incident.
