State troopers have identified the victim of a fatal crash that occurred in southwest Lincoln, Nebraska. The incident unfolded at around 7 p.m. in the vicinity of Highway 77 and Old Cheney, when a pedestrian alerted a Nebraska State Patrol trooper about a major collision at the intersection of Highway 77 and Pioneers Boulevard. According to the troopers’ investigation, a Chevy Cruze had broken down in the southbound lanes. The vehicle’s driver, identified as 44-year-old Severine Bouckongou, had exited the car when a Honda Civic crashed into the stationary Cruze, causing a fire to erupt.

In an attempt to avoid the collision, Bouckongou made an evasive move but was struck by a northbound Chevy Tahoe. At the scene, several individuals were already providing life-saving measures to Bouckongou when the trooper arrived. She was immediately transported to the hospital but was tragically pronounced dead.

The two occupants of the Honda Civic were also taken to the hospital, although their injuries were deemed non-life threatening.

The investigation into the crash is still ongoing as authorities work to determine the exact cause and sequence of events that led to this tragic incident.
