Toronto Police Investigating First Homicide of the Year
TORONTO — Toronto authorities are currently investigating the city’s first homicide of the year, as a 28-year-old man was found dead in a midtown home on January 2nd. The victim has been identified as Mert Sozdinler of Toronto. Additionally, an unidentified woman was discovered deceased at the same location, and investigators believe she is responsible for both deaths.

Upon responding to the call, police discovered the lifeless bodies of the man and the woman inside the residence. The man’s body exhibited signs of trauma, leading investigators to conclude that the woman is the primary suspect in this double homicide case.
Although the relationship between the victims remains undisclosed, authorities have confirmed that Sozdinler was acquainted with the woman. The woman’s name, age, and her connection to the victim have not been released to the public at this time.
Law enforcement is appealing to anyone who may have information or may have been familiar with Mert Sozdinler to come forward and aid in their ongoing investigation.
Last year, Toronto experienced a total of 73 homicides, highlighting the significance of addressing crime rates and maintaining public safety in the city.
