In a prompt response to a report of theft at Kohl’s on Tuesday, Brentwood officers were dispatched to the scene, where they encountered a situation that resulted in a high-speed pursuit.

The incident unfolded as the first officer arrived, witnessing two suspects hastily entering a vehicle parked in front of the store, according to the police. Recognizing the car’s connection to multiple previous thefts from Kohl’s, the officer took immediate action.

The suspects, driving recklessly and at a high rate of speed, managed to evade the officers on the scene, stated the police.

Given their alleged involvement in several thefts, including a recent incident amounting to $20,000, Dispatch promptly informed neighboring agencies about the suspects’ descriptions and vehicle details, added the police.

Approximately an hour later, the Richmond Police Department notified Brentwood Dispatch that they had located the suspect vehicle and successfully apprehended one occupant, revealed the police.

The arrested individual was identified as 25-year-old Maya Usher from Antioch.

Usher was positively identified as one of the main suspects responsible for the thefts at Kohl’s, according to the police.

Further investigation revealed that Usher was involved in thousands of pounds worth of thefts not only from Kohl’s in Contra Costa County but also from stores outside the county, added the officers.
