Police Seek Public Assistance in Locating Suspect in Mt. Angel Shooting

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Marion County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with Crime Stoppers of Oregon, is appealing to the public for help in locating a suspect believed to be responsible for the fatal shooting of a man in Mt. Angel on New Year’s Day.

Authorities have identified the suspect as Agustin Barocio, a 42-year-old resident of Mt. Angel. Barocio, who stands at 5-foot-2 and weighs 160 pounds, is described as having black hair and brown eyes.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office received reports of a shooting incident on Pershing Street near Marquam Street shortly before 6 a.m. on Monday. Deputies promptly responded to the scene and discovered a man with severe injuries.

The victim, later identified as 42-year-old Brandon Slack, tragically succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to officials.

Authorities are urging anyone who may have information regarding the incident to come forward and contact Detective Jessica Van Horn at 503-584-6211. Crime Stoppers of Oregon is offering cash rewards of up to $2,000 for any information that leads to the arrest of the suspect in this unsolved felony. Tipsters can choose to remain anonymous.
