LEE COUNTY, Fla. — A man has been apprehended following a dramatic incident where he attempted to evade a traffic stop and crashed into a Fort Myers Police Department (FMPD) patrol vehicle. The incident occurred on Thursday near the intersection of SR-82 and Destination Drive.

According to the Fort Myers Police Department, officers initiated a routine traffic stop when they noticed suspicious behavior by the driver. However, instead of complying with the officers’ instructions, the driver, identified as 20-year-old Jordan Octavien, quickly accelerated and fled the scene.

As Octavien desperately tried to escape, he ended up colliding with an FMPD patrol vehicle, causing significant damage to both vehicles. Undeterred by the collision, Octavien continued to evade the pursuing officers as he made his way through the streets of Fort Myers and Lehigh Acres.

In a remarkable turn of events, Lee County Sheriff’s Office helicopters were able to track Octavien’s vehicle from the air, providing vital assistance to the ground units during the high-speed pursuit. Despite his attempts to evade capture, Octavien was eventually detained by law enforcement officers.

Subsequent investigation revealed the reason behind Octavien’s desperate attempt to flee. During the traffic stop, officers discovered a substantial amount of illicit substances and cash in his possession. The evidence seized included 3,626 grams of marijuana, 85.9 grams of oxycodone, and a staggering $15,813 in cash.

As a result of his actions, Octavien now faces a multitude of serious charges. These charges include assault, drug possession/trafficking, hit and run, and fleeing/eluding from police. Octavien has been remanded to the Lee County Jail, where he awaits further legal proceedings.
