Rocky Mountain House RCMP Believe Heavy Fog and Icy Roads Contributed to Fatal Clearwater County Collision

Poor road conditions near Condor on Friday are believed to have played a significant role in the tragic death of a 17-year-old resident from Clearwater County, Alberta.

On the morning of January 5th, Rocky Mountain House RCMP received an urgent report regarding a serious multi-vehicle collision that took place on Highway 11 and Range Road 45 in Clearwater County. Upon arrival, investigators discovered the lifeless body of the teenager inside one of the vehicles. The deceased has been identified as a 17-year-old resident of Clearwater County, according to the police’s official press release issued on Friday night.

Additionally, three other vehicles were involved in the incident, including a semi-truck. Fortunately, the occupants of the other vehicles sustained only minor injuries.

Based on preliminary investigations, the police believe that the deceased individual collided head-on with an oncoming semi-truck, causing the truck to lose control. Subsequently, two other vehicles collided with the out-of-control semi-truck. The prevailing weather conditions during the time of the accident, characterized by heavy fog and icy roads, are considered to be contributing factors in the collision.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in Alberta have offered their heartfelt condolences to the grieving family and friends of the deceased teenager.

Due to the severity of the accident and the ongoing investigation, traffic on Highway 11 in the vicinity of the collision was diverted for a significant portion of the day.
