New Delhi: 23-Year-Old Man Succumbs to Injuries After Being Set on Fire by Relative

New Delhi, January 6: A tragic incident took place in Wazirabad, north Delhi, where a 23-year-old man named Numaan, who was allegedly set afire by his relative, has passed away due to his injuries. The incident was reported to the police on Wednesday when a police control room (PCR) call regarding a fire was made to the Wazirabad police station at approximately 3.55 p.m. Numaan, a resident of Wazirabad, had suffered severe burn injuries, accounting for 75 per cent of his body surface area.

Upon reaching the hospital, the Investigating Officer (IO) recorded Numaan’s statement, in which he accused his 22-year-old relative of inviting him to her place and then pouring inflammable substances on him before setting him on fire. A senior police official confirmed the victim’s statement. A case has been registered under section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and investigations are underway. Unfortunately, Numaan succumbed to his injuries on Friday.
