DARTMOUTH, Mass. (WPRI) — A devastating car accident in Dartmouth on Friday night has resulted in the untimely death of an 18-year-old man and left a 44-year-old woman with serious injuries.

The Accident

At approximately 10:30 p.m., local authorities received an emergency call reporting a single-car crash with potential ejections at the intersection of Gulf Road and Smith Neck Road. Dartmouth police swiftly responded to the scene.

The Scene

Upon arrival, emergency responders discovered both a man and a woman lying unconscious on the road near a severely damaged 2022 Honda Accord. The crash had taken a devastating toll on the vehicle, exacerbating concerns about the victims’ conditions.

The Victims

The male victim, identified as Jacob Pothier from New Bedford, tragically succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford. Meanwhile, the female victim, identified as Kathleen Martins from Dartmouth, sustained life-threatening injuries and was rushed to the same hospital for immediate medical attention.
