Rocky Mountain House RCMP received a distressing report on January 5, 2024, regarding a serious multi-vehicle collision that took place on Highway 11 and Range Road 45 in Clearwater County. The incident resulted in the unfortunate loss of a 17-year-old resident from Clearwater County.

Upon reaching the accident site, investigators discovered the lifeless body of the 17-year-old victim inside one of the vehicles involved in the collision. In addition to the fatality, three other vehicles, including a semi-truck, sustained varying degrees of damage. Fortunately, the occupants of these vehicles suffered only minor injuries. Due to the ongoing police investigation and the need to remove the semi-truck from the scene, the highway remained blocked for several hours. However, it has now been reopened since just after 8pm on January 5th.

While the investigation is still in its early stages, preliminary findings suggest that the deceased teenager collided with an oncoming semi-truck. As a result, two other vehicles also struck the semi-truck when it lost control.

The authorities believe that the collision was influenced by adverse weather conditions, particularly heavy fog and icy roads.

Tragically, the collision resulted in the loss of a young life. The victim has been identified as a 17-year-old resident of Clearwater County.

Upon reaching the accident scene, investigators discovered the lifeless body of the 17-year-old victim inside one of the vehicles involved in the collision. Apart from the fatality, three other vehicles, including a semi-truck, sustained varying degrees of damage. Thankfully, the occupants of these vehicles only sustained minor injuries. Due to the ongoing police investigation and the need to remove the semi-truck from the site, the highway remained closed for an extended period. However, the authorities have now reopened the highway since just after 8pm on January 5th.

While it is still early in the investigation, initial findings suggest that the deceased teenager’s vehicle collided head-on with an oncoming semi-truck. Subsequently, two other vehicles also collided with the semi-truck as it lost control on impact.

The authorities believe that the collision was influenced by adverse weather conditions, including heavy fog and icy roads. These factors likely contributed to reduced visibility and compromised traction on the road, making it exceedingly challenging for drivers to navigate safely.
