Accident – Death – Obituary News : Traffic collisions resulted in the tragic loss of 10 lives in the year 2023. Among the victims was a woman from Cleburne, Texas, who lost her life in Lynn County, as well as six residents from Georgia who were killed in Johnson County. One particularly devastating incident occurred in August on U.S. 380 near Brownsfield, where three individuals, including a Cleburne student, lost their lives.

According to reports, the collision involved a Lincoln MKC driven by a 35-year-old Cleburne woman traveling north on Farm-to-Market Road 179, and a Ram pickup traveling west on U.S. 380. The Lincoln driver ran a stop sign and collided with the Ram pickup. Sadly, the driver of the Ram, Armando Anthony Yglecias, a 67-year-old resident of Rockwall, and the back left passenger, Joy Yglecias, also 67 and from Rockwall, died at the scene. Another passenger in the truck, Albert Yglecias, 64, from Waco, later succumbed to his injuries at Lynn County Hospital. Michelle Yglecias, 57, also from Waco and another passenger in the Ram, sustained critical injuries. Tragically, a 17-year-old Cleburne girl who was riding in the front seat of the Lincoln was taken to Lynn County Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. The year ended on a somber note with a collision on December 26 near Nemo, resulting in the loss of six lives. All of the victims were traveling in a Honda Odyssey van, with five of them being residents of Alpharetta, Georgia. The driver, Ruushil Barry, 28, from Irving, was also among the deceased. The other victims were Nageswararao Ponnada, a 64-year-old male, Sitamahalakshmi Ponnada, a 60-year-old female, Naveena Potabathula, a 36-year-old female, Krithik Potabathula, a 10-year-old male, and Nishidha Potabathula, a 9-year-old female. Naveena Potabathula was the daughter of the Ponnadas, who had traveled from India to visit their daughter and grandchildren.

The collision occurred when a Chevrolet Silverado traveling south on U.S. 67 attempted to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone. As a result, the Silverado entered the northbound lane, colliding head-on with the Honda Odyssey. The impact caused significant damage to both vehicles. The two 17-year-old passengers in the Silverado, both residents of Glen Rose, were transported to Fort Worth hospitals in critical condition, along with the sole survivor in the Honda.

Reports indicate that only two individuals in the Honda were wearing seatbelts, while only one person in the Silverado was properly restrained. These details highlight the importance of seatbelt usage and adhering to traffic regulations to minimize the risk of fatalities and injuries in traffic collisions.

It is crucial to emphasize the significance of safe driving practices and the need for increased awareness on the roads to prevent such tragic incidents. The loss of these precious lives serves as a reminder for everyone to prioritize road safety and adhere to traffic laws.
