Accident – Death – Obituary News : On Thursday (4th January), a tragic incident occurred at Perry High School in Iowa State, United States. Seventeen-year-old Dylan Butler, who identified as gender-fluid, opened fire at the school, injuring six people and killing one 6th-grade student. The school principal, Dan Marbuger, was among those injured in the mass shooting.

Prior to the incident, Butler posted a video on his TikTok account with the caption ‘Now, we wait.’ The video, which was uploaded on his account ‘@tooktoomuch,’ was filmed from the school bathroom. Butler’s TikTok account, along with his other social media profiles, has since been scrubbed.

Armed with a handgun and a pump-action shotgun, the mass shooter entered Perry High School early Thursday morning. He also had an explosive device, which fortunately did not detonate during the attack. After carrying out the shooting spree, Dylan Butler took his own life. The incident prompted the evacuation of 1785 students from the school.

Witnesses at the scene described the chaotic and terrifying moments. A 13-year-old student named Carlos said, “I heard a couple of bangs, they weren’t loud. We saw loads of people run out. We thought it was a prank or something. We didn’t think it was real at first.” Another student, Ava Augustus, recounted her experience, saying, “I run and you can just see glass everywhere, blood on the floor. I get to my car and they’re taking a girl out of the auditorium who had been shot in her leg.”

It has now been revealed that Dylan Butler had previously carried out a ‘mock trial’ of a school shooting in December of the previous year. He had uploaded a disturbing video of the simulation on his TikTok account. On his Instagram and TikTok profiles, Butler identified as non-binary and used the pronouns ‘he/they.’ His profile bio also included a pride flag, symbolizing his connection to the LGBTQ+ community. Butler had also shared a post on TikTok expressing support for trans kids.

Sadly, this is not the first time a mass shooting has been committed by a transgender or non-binary individual. In March 2023, a 28-year-old woman named Audrey Elizabeth Hale, who identified as a trans-man, went on a shooting spree at a private Christian school in Nashville, Tennessee. Hale killed three 9-year-old children and three adults before being apprehended by the police.
