The incident occurred at 5:31 a.m., when the worker was crushed by a loading ramp. Woodbridge Police Department’s Chief Law Enforcement Officer, Robert Brady, provided details of the unfortunate incident.
Due to the ongoing investigation now under the supervision of the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the identity of the victim, a 38-year-old Somerset resident, cannot be disclosed at this time.

According to Brady, it appears that the employee was underneath the ramp when the accident occurred. It remains unknown whether a pin or stabilizer was removed, but at some point, the ramp collapsed, leading to the fatal injury. Emergency services responded swiftly after the incident was reported, but unfortunately, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident took place at Fenix Auto Parts, which is situated on Leesville Avenue in Avenel, near the Woodbridge-Rahway border. The establishment is officially known as Fenix Parts Rahway.
