Port Angeles Woman Charged with Possession of Methamphetamine

PORT ANGELES — A woman who had been wanted since mid-November for investigation of possession of drugs and burglary tools is now facing charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, specifically methamphetamine. Odessia L. Cargo was charged on Thursday in Clallam County Superior Court, and her arraignment is scheduled for today.

The 28-year-old suspect was apprehended last Saturday, December 30th, at a residence in Port Angeles, according to a press release from the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office. Cargo is currently being held in the Clallam County jail, with a bond set at $10,000 or bail at $25,000. Although she was initially charged solely with the drug crime, she was also booked for investigation of possession of burglary tools, second-degree criminal trespass, and three outstanding Lower Elwha Tribal Court warrants.

According to a previous press release from the sheriff’s office, on November 12th, a deputy investigated a report of a suspicious vehicle with license plates that did not match in the parking lot of the Port Angeles East Safeway. The vehicle was occupied by two women and one man, according to an employee. Cargo, who was standing inside the passenger door, claimed the car belonged to one of the other men, took a $100 bill from the passenger seat, and then fled on foot as the deputy approached. The two men also fled on foot and were later arrested that evening on unrelated charges.

The deputy noticed suspicious materials inside the vehicle, which led to the issuance of a search warrant. During the search, the deputy discovered 32.27 grams of packaged suspected methamphetamine and a digital scale. Additionally, multiple bags with white powdery and white crystalline substances, hypodermic needles, plastic smoking devices, a rubber tourniquet, and various burglary tools were found. The search also uncovered photo IDs, debit cards, and mail used to confirm the suspects’ identities. Mail belonging to another woman and a black book with Cargo’s name written on it were also found.
