Las Vegas Woman Arrested for Alleged Attack on Boyfriend in Hot Springs Hotel

HOT SPRINGS — A Las Vegas woman, Chelsy Leigh Jackson, 33, was apprehended on Tuesday afternoon on a felony battery charge for reportedly assaulting her 76-year-old boyfriend in the lobby of the hotel they were staying at in Hot Springs Village Inn. The incident resulted in her being charged with second-degree domestic battery, a crime that carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison due to the victim’s age and the severity of his injuries.

The arrest took place at around 1:30 p.m. at the Hot Springs Village Inn, located at 4429 Arkansas 7 north. Jackson was taken into custody and initially held without bail. On Wednesday, she appeared via video in Garland County District Court, where she pleaded not guilty to the charge. A felony review hearing has been scheduled for February 16.

Judge Joe Graham set Jackson’s bail at $2,500 based on an agreement with the victim, but imposed the condition that she must seek mental health treatment. Following the hearing, she was released, subject to a court order prohibiting contact with the victim.

While Jackson does not have a prior felony record in the local area, she has previously pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor offense of driving while intoxicated, first offense, in Garland County on December 10, 2012. For that conviction, she received a one-year jail sentence, which was fully suspended.

According to the probable cause affidavit relating to Tuesday’s arrest, Deputy Candice Presley of the Garland County Sheriff’s Office responded to the hotel and interviewed the victim. The victim, who had been in an “on and off” relationship with Jackson for six years, described her as someone who suffers from mental illness. He stated that he had been attempting to support and help her when the incident occurred.

The hotel manager, who witnessed the altercation, confirmed the victim’s account. She reported that Jackson entered the lobby and began yelling at the victim before physically assaulting him. Concerned for the victim’s safety, the manager promptly dialed emergency services. Even after the victim attempted to calm her down, Jackson continued to berate him.

Despite the victim’s pleas for her to stop, Jackson allegedly struck him multiple times in the face and on the back of his head. The force of the blows caused the victim’s glasses to fall off and shatter on the floor. Deputy Presley observed a scratch on the right side of the victim’s face and blood on the back of his head, both of which he confirmed were a result of Jackson’s actions. Additionally, Presley documented two lacerations on the back of the victim’s head.

Following the incident, Jackson was promptly taken into custody and subsequently transported to the Garland County jail.
