The arrest took place at the Hot Springs Village Inn, located at 4429 Highway 7 North. Jackson was charged with second-degree domestic battery, which carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison. The severity of the charge was determined based on the victim’s injuries and his age, as he is over 60 years old.

Initially held on zero bond, Jackson appeared via video in Garland County District Court on Wednesday. During the hearing, she pleaded not guilty to the charge. A felony review hearing has been scheduled for February 16th.

After considering the victim’s agreement, Judge Joe Graham set Jackson’s bond at $2,500. However, she was required to seek mental health treatment before being released. Additionally, a court order was issued, prohibiting any contact between Jackson and the victim.

Prior to this incident, Jackson had no known felony history in the local area. However, she had previously pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of driving while intoxicated, first offense, in Garland County on December 10, 2012. For this offense, she received a one-year jail sentence, which was suspended.

The probable cause affidavit for Tuesday’s arrest revealed that Garland County sheriff’s Deputy Candice Presley responded to the hotel and spoke with the victim in the lobby. According to the victim, Jackson, his “on and off girlfriend of six years,” suffers from mental illness, and he has been trying to support her.

The hotel manager, who witnessed the incident, informed Deputy Presley that Jackson entered the lobby and immediately began shouting at the victim. Concerned for the victim’s safety, the manager dialed 911. Notably, Jackson continued yelling even when the victim attempted to calm her down.

Despite the victim’s pleas, Jackson allegedly struck him multiple times in the face and back of the head. This resulted in the victim’s glasses falling off and breaking on the floor. Deputy Presley observed a scratch on the right side of the victim’s face, as well as blood on the back of his head, which he confirmed were caused by Jackson. Two lacerations were also found on the back of his head.

Following the incident, Jackson was taken into custody and subsequently transported to the Garland County Detention Center.
