Fraud Attempt at Bell County Restaurant Leads to Police Pursuit

MORGAN’S POINT RESORT, Texas (FOX 44) – A fraudulent incident at a popular Bell County restaurant resulted in a high-speed pursuit spanning multiple cities on Thursday afternoon.

Fraudulent Activity at Sol De Jalisco #4 Restaurant

Morgan’s Point Resort Police received a distress call from Sol De Jalisco #4 restaurant, situated at 1680 Morgan’s Point Road, at approximately 2:37 p.m. The call reported an ongoing fraud attempt at the establishment.

According to the police, Cindy Gomez, a 33-year-old resident of Temple, contacted the restaurant posing as a representative of one of their vendors. Gomez claimed that a delivery had been made to the restaurant, and the driver failed to collect payment for the order. To support her claim, she sent a fraudulent invoice to the restaurant and subsequently arrived at the premises to collect the supposed payment.

Suspicion Arises and Law Enforcement is Alerted

Upon Gomez’s arrival, a vigilant staff member found the circumstances suspicious and decided to contact the local law enforcement authorities. Responding promptly, an officer arrived at the restaurant and approached Gomez to address the situation.

However, instead of complying with the officer’s commands, Gomez hastily entered her 2016 Buick Verano and locked herself inside. She then recklessly fled the scene, refusing to stop for multiple pursuing police officers.

High-Speed Pursuit through Multiple Cities

The pursuit of Gomez’s vehicle involved officers from various law enforcement agencies, including the Morgan’s Point Resort Police Department, the Temple Police Department, the Bell County Constables Office Precinct Three, and the Texas Department of Public Safety. The chase spanned through Morgan’s Point Resort, Temple, and Belton, with Gomez evading capture at every turn.

Apprehension at the Bell County Justice Center

After a dramatic chase, the pursuit finally came to an end in the parking lot of the Bell County Justice Center at 1201 Huey Drive in Belton. Law enforcement officers successfully apprehended Gomez, bringing her reckless attempt to evade justice to an end.

Following her arrest, Gomez was booked into the Bell County Jail. She now faces charges of Evading Arrest or Detention, Evading with a Vehicle, and Criminal Attempt. Additionally, an outstanding felony arrest warrant, issued by the Bell County Sheriff’s Department, has also been served against her.
