Bandits Kidnap Seven Family Members in Bwari Area Council, FCT

In a disturbing incident, bandits have once again struck the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), this time kidnapping seven family members. The brazen attack also resulted in two policemen sustaining bullet injuries as they tried to foil the abduction.

Reports indicate that a courageous middle-aged man, known simply as Alhaji, led the policemen in their attempt to rescue the kidnapped family members. Tragically, Alhaji was shot dead by the bandits during the operation.

This incident follows a series of recent cases where bandits have been terrorizing villages within the Bwari Area Council, causing fear and distress among residents. These criminal elements have been resorting to abductions and even killing innocent individuals.

The latest incident took place in the early hours of Wednesday in Zuma 1, located in the Bwari central ward of the Area Council. According to Isaiah Samuel, a resident of Bwari, the bandits strategically positioned themselves after identifying their target’s house. However, the victim grew suspicious upon hearing an unfamiliar sound and promptly contacted his brother, Alhaji, who mobilized the police.

“Upon hearing a strange sound in front of his house, the man immediately called his brother, popularly known as Alhaji, to alert the police,” Samuel revealed.

Unfortunately, as Alhaji led a team of policemen to the scene, one of the bandits hiding at a corner opened fire and fatally shot him. The police officers retaliated, engaging in a fierce gun battle with the bandits. However, due to the considerable distance between the victim’s house and the location where the police encountered the criminals, the bandits managed to escape with the man and his family members.

Samuel also recounted another incident from the previous day when the bandits invaded Barangoni, also in the Bwari central ward. During this attack, three individuals were abducted, and a vigilante member sustained injuries.

Expressing concern over the deteriorating security situation, Samuel called upon the authorities of the Bwari Area Council to collaborate with security agencies in order to address the rampant cases of kidnapping in the area.

“Bwari area council is clearly under siege. Over the past two weeks, bandits have been wreaking havoc, moving from one community to another, killing and abducting innocent people,” Samuel lamented.

At the time of writing, the FCT Police Command had yet to issue a statement on the latest attacks. The residents anxiously await a response from the authorities, hoping for a swift and effective intervention to restore peace and security in their community.
