Investigation Underway for First Homicide of 2024 in Kansas City
KANSAS CITY — Authorities in Kansas City have launched a thorough investigation into the city’s first homicide of the new year. The incident took place just before 10 p.m. on Wednesday when law enforcement received a distress call regarding a medical emergency near the intersection of 26th and Agnes. Sheriff Daryl Forte confirmed the details of the incident.

Upon arrival, emergency responders discovered an elderly man lying in a yard, later identified as 70-year-old Vonzell Bryant. He was found to be suffering from severe bodily trauma. Tragically, despite the efforts of the EMS team, Bryant was pronounced dead on the scene.
As of now, the police have not made any arrests or released any further information regarding the incident.
