16-Year-Old Arrested in Connection with New Year’s Day Shooting in Mobile, Alabama
MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — In a significant breakthrough, Mobile Police have apprehended a 16-year-old boy in relation to the tragic murder of 19-year-old Marcus Kennedy on New Year’s Day.

The suspect will be transported to Mobile Metro Jail, where he will face charges of murder.
According to the police, the incident took place around 12:15 a.m. on Monday, January 1, on the 300 block of Dauphin Street. Kennedy was shot during this incident and succumbed to his injuries at a nearby hospital.
Following the shocking incident, Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson expressed his condolences and solidarity with Kennedy’s family. He stated, “Any loss of life is tragic, and our prayers are with the family of the young man who was killed early this morning.”
Mayor Stimpson further added, “It is very unfortunate that this single, isolated incident occurred downtown after an otherwise safe event that was enjoyed by thousands of people. Our officers were on the scene within seconds and are diligently working to bring the individual responsible to justice.”

Location of the Incident
On Wednesday, Kennedy was officially identified as the victim of the New Year’s Day shooting in Mobile.
