WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Williamsburg Police Department has launched an investigation into what appears to be a tragic murder-suicide involving an elderly married couple. The incident took place on January 3 at around 7 p.m. in the 100 block of Cutspring Arch, leaving the community in shock and disbelief.

Upon receiving a welfare check request, Williamsburg police officers swiftly responded to the scene. They discovered the lifeless bodies of 87-year-old Norma Jean Clyde and her husband, Ury Eugene Clyde. Tragically, both individuals had suffered from a single gunshot wound and were pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary findings indicate that Ury Eugene Clyde, the husband, allegedly shot his wife before turning the firearm on himself. Authorities recovered the handgun used in the incident, as well as a suicide note, further supporting the theory of a murder-suicide. Law enforcement officials have not found any evidence of a struggle or forced entry, suggesting that the incident may have been premeditated.
