In a devastating car crash on State Route 441 in Walworth, a retired Monroe County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) deputy tragically lost his life, while three others sustained injuries. The New York State Police promptly responded to the accident, which occurred around 4 p.m. on Tuesday, and are currently conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the incident.

The collision involved a Ford vehicle traveling north on Canandaigua Road and a Hyundai car moving west on Route 441. The driver of the Hyundai, identified as 62-year-old Thomas Doherty, a retired MCSO jail deputy and resident of Webster, unfortunately perished at the scene of the crash.

Accompanying Doherty in the Hyundai was a 56-year-old woman who sustained non-life-threatening injuries. She was promptly transported to Strong Memorial Hospital for medical treatment. The Ford vehicle carried two young female passengers, aged 15 and 17, who also suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to the same hospital for further care.

The driver of the Ford, identified as 18-year-old Evan Haggett, did not report any injuries. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the specific details surrounding the crash. This tragic incident emphasizes the ongoing importance of road safety awareness and the potential consequences of vehicular accidents. The community deeply mourns the loss of Doherty and extends its wishes for a swift recovery to those injured.


One fatality and multiple hospitalizations following a severe two-car collision at a hazardous intersection in Walworth

A tragic collision involving two vehicles in Walworth has resulted in the unfortunate death of a 62-year-old man, as confirmed by state police overnight. The incident occurred around 4:20 p.m. on Tuesday at the intersection of State Route 441 and Canandaigua Road.

The crash involved an 18-year-old male driver from Victor, who was traveling north when his vehicle collided with the westbound car driven by the 62-year-old victim. The impact of the collision was so severe that the 62-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

In addition to the fatality, a 56-year-old woman sustained injuries in the crash and has been transported to Strong Memorial Hospital for medical treatment. Two other individuals involved in the collision were also hospitalized.

This incident has drawn attention to the issue of road safety in the area, particularly at the busy intersection where the crash took place. State Police are currently conducting investigations to determine the exact cause of the accident and any contributing factors involved.
