Detectives Seek Information on Suspects Involved in Christmas Day Shootings

Detectives in Plant City are seeking tips from the public regarding the suspects involved in a tragic shooting incident that occurred on Christmas day, resulting in the death of two individuals.

The unfortunate incident took place at approximately 9:41 p.m. on December 25th, in the 1300 block of Louisiana Street. According to the incident report, the Plant City Police Department (PCPD) received a 911 call reporting a shooting with injuries. Upon arrival at the scene, officers found Jamayais Bennett, 20, clutching his chest and revealing that he had been shot. Bennett was immediately rushed to South Florida Baptist Hospital by Plant City Fire Rescue, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries.

Witnesses at the scene informed the police that there might be another victim. Prior to the shooting, Bennett was seen walking and talking on his cellphone in the area. Another individual approached him, and this person, described as the shooter, fired multiple rounds at both victims. The shooter was seen driving a silver SUV. Despite a thorough search of the area, officers were unable to find another injured victim at that time. However, on December 27th, at approximately 8:05 a.m., a cemetery employee discovered a deceased male covered in blood and lying motionless near the tree-line of the Garden of Peace Cemetery. The victim was later identified as Zonteveon Shaw, 30.

PCPD Chief James Bradford expressed his commitment to solving these senseless homicides. He stated, “We have a dedicated team of detectives working tirelessly to uncover the truth and bring justice to the victims and their families. We urge anyone with information to come forward and assist us in our investigation.
